About Us

Our Values

- We are collaborative

- We are inclusive

- We are kind

- We are innovative

At APlayC, we work closely with parents, caregivers and their children. We are committed to using a coaching approach so that you learn the skills to support your child in all their environments. We are dedicated to working closely with you to create and achieve the goals that are most meaningful to you and your child.

We are a small business which means we have flexibility in the way that we deliver our services. Many families are currently on waitlists to receive services, we want to change that. We are committed to supporting families to get started with therapy and offer 'Getting Started' Packages and Learning Workshops so that you can begin to achieve those goals.

We are very passionate about AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and play based therapy- its in our name! We are also great at supporting you with other therapy areas including mealtimes, literacy, and early intervention

Feel free to follow our Instagram and Facebook page to find out about our exciting evidence-based therapy. See the social media links at the bottom of our page!

Brittany Maiolo

Principal Speech Pathologist

Brittany has extensive experience working in the disability sector. With this experience comes a wealth of knowledge on how to work effectively with families. Brittany is passionate about her clients being in the driver's seat and always strives to provide a truly client-centred service to her families. Her goal for every family that she works with is to feel empowered and confident in helping their child communicate.

Brittany lives for anything speech, communication and feeding. She has worked as a senior Speech Pathologist and in multi-disciplinary teams. Working alongside a range of allied health professionals including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists and Dietitians has meant she a comprehensive understanding of the roles of these clinicians. She firmly believes that the best outcomes will be achieved when the whole team is working in partnership with you.

Brittany has worked as part of a specialist feeding team to support families and other clinicians with both children and adults with feeding and swallowing difficulties. Brittany uses a range of approaches to support feeding and mealtime goals and will always tailor the service to suit each individual for the best chance of success.

Brittany has supported many families that have children with complex communication needs (CCN). She believes that every child needs access to as much language as possible- opening up their world to be able to say anything they want. Brittany has also developed trainings to support health professionals, schools and caregivers to increase their knowledge and communication partner skills with AAC.

In her spare time Brittany enjoys spending time with her family- her husband (Mark), little girl (Clementine) and her playful groodle (Harley). She is also a regular at her local coffee shops!

Brittany is trained in the following programs and approaches:

- Hanen: More Than Words

- Oro-facial Myology

- Talktools: Oral Placement Therapy

- Ellyn Satter: Division of Responsibility
